Met Pakcik Hashim

Pakcik Hashim is a kind hearted man. He came from Gombak and used to be a teacher in several schools such as Kuala Langat and Klang. Before he opened his sewing shop he actived in making 'angklung' and wayang kulit.

He used to study in one of the institution in Perak. PakCik got talent in Art Field. He used to be a leader of art club when he was young. He is also participeted in many activities such as theater, drawing cartoon and also making magazine. Meanwhile, he is very good in playing instruments.

Now he just sews attire and making many types of 'Tanjak'. To me, he is a great man. He is also an expert in drawing his own sewed shirts, and making 'Tanjak' according to each state in Malaysia.

He stated that the process of making a 'Tanjak' took about one  hour. A 'Tanjak' costs Rm100 if uses his own stuffs, while Rm50 if customers provide their own cloth.

Research again and again

Assalamualaikum.. I've continued my research on choosing the appropriate products because i love something that authentic and traditional, such as kris, beaded shoes, and headdress.

My friend and i started our searching on the related organization at Klang. For your information, Klang is nearer to my place and my work will be easier after this. We strolled around for hours and made some interview from people at some of sewing shops.

Finally, i've found a person whom made tanjak. The uncle was called as Pakcik Hashim. His age was over than 80 years old but still in a good health. He has a small shop and really good in making that sorted to each state in Malaysia. He was headmaster a long time ago. After his retirement, he just does sewing jobs of many types of attires and also makes tanjak at his sewing shop.

The Journey Began...

Assalamualaikum.. I started my research by using google at the first place. I searched for 'orang asli' around selangor where I discovered two of orang asli's famous region, Tadom Hill and Pulau Carey . They are both located at Banting, Selangor ..

I was getting interested about orang asli's life before which would give me the chance to meet them and watch the processes of making their famous handycrafts. The following day, my friend and i prepared to go to the location early in the morning. 

At first, i chose Tadom Hill for my research but unfortunately, we could not found the place although we had asked from a few people about the route and we've got the dissapointed answers as they even did not know the exact location. I felt furiously irritated because my skin have been burned up due to the hot temperature in the middle of the day. There was also no any signboard showing of Tadom Hill along our journey .

I slowly distressed because i was exhausted which made me changed my plan and went to Pulau Carey instead. I was hoping my friend and I could find the place and thank god, we did it!

Tadaa! We're safely arrived...

I am studying at UiTM Shah Alam in bachelor of textile design. For this subject I will find someone that produce any textile products by him/herself.
